Dr. William Thomas Green Morton was born in 1819 in Charlton, Massachusetts. He was only 48 when he died, but during his relatively short lifetime, he brought the medical community the use of ether. Morton used ether in the first painless tooth extraction done in Massachusetts General Hospital in 1846. He was a dentist by trade, and built a magnificent home in Wellsley to live with his wife; Elizabeth Whiteman. The home is now been remodeled into use by the Wellsley Town Hall, and it's absolutely gorgeous. Mum and I ate lunch in the beautiful park-like front garden of the home/hall on November 17th, and I couldn't help but take some photos!
